RAINWATER HARVESTING: In order to sustain a healthy food supply in the desert, even for another single generation, growers must harvest and use rainwater and gray water for their crops. Permaculturist, Bard Edrington, teaches us the value of water harvesting and all the many ways to accomplish it. See examples of a 2900 gallon ferro-cement cistern, smaller plastic cisterns, earthworks, and an over-all design for water wealth. Offered SUNDAY, MAY 2 with BARD EDRINGTON. LUNAR LIVING: Nature has rhythmic and predictable energy patterns that correlate with the waxing and waning moon and the traveling sun. Because their livelihood require they adapt to natural rhythm, gardeners and farmers know best that we are spirals of energy, not highways. Permaculturist, Zoe Wilcox-Edrington teaches students to align themselves and their gardens to the natural cycles of rest and abundance. Offered SUNDAY, JULY 25. FOOD FOREST: Offered SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 with BARD EDRINGTON. Farm tour at 9:30 am, class starts at 10 am.

HERBAL FARMACY: Imagine not having to go to a pharmacy (even a “natural”) for a sniffle or fever. Herbalist, Jen Prosser, teaches us what plants to use for what ailments, how to grow them, and the different ways to process them. Offered SEPTEMBER 26 with Jen Prosser.
